Medvedev: Russian car making industry close to crisis, to get aid

Medvedev26MOSCOW, Mar 26 (PRIME) -- The Russian car industry is close to a crisis, and the government will provide financial support to her regions of location of truck makers Kamaz, car maker AvtoVAZ, and railcar makers Altaivagon and TVZ, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said at a meeting with the government on Thursday.

“It is obvious that most important companies of these regions with difficult economic situation will get extra funding. The situation there is really close to a crisis. I mean the car industry,” he said.

Medvedev said the measure will help 35,000 people find a job or receive new training.

“Regional authorities can use the funds for professional training and probation of the people who had lost their jobs or are threatened with being sacked, and also to organize temporary jobs,” he said.

He said that regions will also use the state funding to create new jobs for people, who have difficulties with employment during the economic crisis.
